A man is murdered in his townhome
In the early morning hours of August 14, 1990, the life of 20-year-old David Lee Lamb Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in what police have described as a homicide. The violent incident unfolded at approximately 2:30 a.m. inside his townhome located in the 1100 block of Hillock Crescent in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Three armed men forced their way into his residence, and amidst the chaos, Lamb was shot in the head.
Neighbors had reported a history of frequent activity at Lamb's home, which he had lived in for less than a year, with people and fast cars coming and going at all hours, accompanied by loud music. Investigators believe the atmosphere surrounding his home may have contributed to the circumstances leading to his death. When police responded to reports of gunfire, they found Lamb critically injured. He was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Despite an extensive investigation and interviews with numerous witnesses and neighbors, no arrests have ever been made in the case, and it remains an active cold case. Authorities have released a description of one of the suspects, described as a light-complexioned Black male, approximately 20 years old, standing about 5'6' tall, and weighing around 140 pounds. He had a thin mustache, freckles, and at the time of the shooting, was wearing a white baseball cap and a white shirt. The other two suspects were also identified as Black males, but no further descriptions have been made available. The Virginia Beach Police Department continues to seek information from the public that could lead to a breakthrough in this decades-old case and bring closure to the family of David Lee Lamb Jr.
