On January 27, 2016, a fire engulfed a mobile home in Exmore, Virginia, where the body of 70-year-old Shirley Mae Onley was discovered. Initially thought to be a fire-related fatality, further investigation revealed that Shirley had been shot to death prior to the fire. This led to the case being treated as a homicide.
