In the early morning hours of July 30, 2016, Michael A. Minor, a 44-year-old Black male, was fatally shot while at his job at the Black Tie Social Club in Richmond, Virginia. The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. as Minor was closing the establishment for the night. Richmond Police officers responded to a call about the shooting and discovered Minor with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to his family, the assailant called Minor by his name before shooting him, suggesting that the two may have known each other. The motive for the killing is believed to be robbery, as the shooter reportedly demanded Minor's possessions before opening fire. Minor was a beloved figure in his community, known for his role as a youth football coach for the RichCity Spiders.
The investigation into Michael A. Minor's death has not yet led to an arrest, and the case remains unsolved. Authorities have described the suspect as a Black male in his mid-30s, standing approximately 6 feet tall with a medium to heavyset build. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored jean shorts, and Nike-style boots. The suspect was seen leaving the scene in a white Chrysler 300 sedan, which was captured on surveillance footage from the area. The Richmond Police Department has continued to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and capture of the person responsible for Minor's death.
