A woman is sexually assaulted and strangled to death
On February 9, 2006, 29-year-old Sonia Mejia was brutally murdered in her Taylorsville, Utah apartment. Sonia, who was six months pregnant at the time, was home alone when a neighbor observed a man speaking with her at the door. Shortly after, the same man was seen forcibly entering her apartment. Sonia’s body was discovered by her husband later that evening. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
