A woman is sexually assaulted and strangled to death
Sonia Mejia, a 29-year-old Hispanic woman, was tragically killed in her Taylorsville, Utah, apartment on February 9, 2006. At the time of her death, she was six months pregnant with her second child and lived with her common-law husband and their 8-year-old son. On that Thursday morning, a neighbor witnessed a Hispanic male speaking with Mejia at her front door around 11:30 a.m. The witness then saw the man assault her, force his way into the apartment, and shut the door.
