On September 13, 2007, German Hernandez, aged 28, was killed in southwest Houston during a confrontation at a convenience store. Hernandez and his friends went to a Shell store at Fondren and Harwin around 12:50 a.m. While they waited in their car, an argument began with two men fueling a green pickup truck. The altercation escalated when the two men opened fire, hitting Hernandez and another person. Hernandez was later pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.
The suspects have not been caught, and police continue to seek leads.
