In the early morning hours of November 21, 2009, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a violent incident occurred at the Oasis Lounge located at 7703 Irvington in Houston, Texas. The Houston Police Department initially responded to what was reported as an assault in progress. However, before officers could arrive at the scene, the situation escalated dramatically when gunfire erupted between multiple parties who were involved in the initial assault.
During this exchange of gunfire, Alexander
Torres Jr., a 24-year-old Houston resident, sustained a gunshot wound to the head. After being struck, Torres was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital by private vehicle, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim, born on January 21, 1985, left behind his wife, Joann Molina, and four stepsons: Johnny, Felix, Frankie, and Isaac. He was also survived by his parents, RoxAnn Torres and Alexander Ruiz, as well as several siblings including Michael, Matthew, Concepcion Josie, and Diana M. Ruiz.
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, specifically Sergeant J.T. Parker and Senior Police Officer S.R. Straughter, led the investigation into Torres's death. At the time of the initial report, the police indicated that an unknown number of suspects were involved in the incident. The HPD Homicide Division actively sought information from anyone who was present at the Oasis Lounge during the shooting. Despite the investigation, public records do not indicate whether any suspects were ever apprehended or charged in connection with Torres's death.
