On August 24, 2008, Simone McNair, age 24, was tragically killed while standing on the balcony of her apartment at 10910 Gulf Freeway in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. as she was speaking on her cell phone. An unidentified Black male approached her, and witnesses heard Simone arguing with the suspect. The assailant proceeded to rob her, taking her belongings, including her cell phone. He then shot her in the head, killing her instantly.
