Braveon Terry, a 17-year-old high school student, lost his life in a tragic shooting at a house party in southwest Houston on November 16, 2013. Braveon, who attended Yates High School, was one of four individuals struck by gunfire when a disturbance erupted outside the party, leading to shots being fired. Multiple suspects arrived at the scene in vehicles and, after a confrontation, opened fire on attendees.
Braveon was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other injured victims received medical attention for their non-life-threatening wounds.
Witnesses described a chaotic environment as shots rang out, prompting people to duck for cover. One neighbor, Jasmone Goudeau, who saw Braveon lying injured on the ground, attempted to help, but authorities later covered his body when it was clear he had passed. Family and friends remembered him as a smiling, funny young man who enjoyed sports and was loved by many. Although Braveon had faced some challenges, his family remained hopeful for his future and encouraged him to stay focused on finishing high school.
The Houston Police Department continued to investigate the incident, with no arrests made immediately following the tragedy. This incident marked another violent event at a party promoted on social media, echoing a broader issue of youth violence at such gatherings around the area.
