That night, people close to her later said her voice carried fear. She called friends, telling at least one of them she felt scared and needed a ride back to her car, and then the calls ended. By the next day, her family's worry turned into alarm when a notice arrived saying her car had been towed; when her mother went to retrieve it, key personal belongings were still inside, including the same purse investigators later noted she appeared to be carrying in the surveillance footage.
Investigators dug into the hours surrounding her disappearance and ran into a gap that only deepened suspicion: the surveillance system stopped recording for a long stretch overnight, leaving a critical window unaccounted for. Police identified the man last seen with her as Tanner Losson, and he was publicly described as a person of interest while detectives also looked into other people connected to her life, including individuals tied to a period of drug use described in reporting about the investigation. More than a year later, on February 13, 2022, Princeton police found skeletal remains in a wooded area near Lavon Lake, at Morning Dove Lane and County Route 477.
