In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 9, 2008, Tremayne Lamont Woods, a 27-year-old African-American man, was at a Nashville nightclub called The Place, located at 217 2nd Avenue South. An argument erupted between Woods and another Black male, prompting a security guard to intervene and separate the two.
