On a Wednesday evening in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 25-year-old Germaine Davenport was tragically cut short. It was just before 10:00 p.m. on March 13, 2013, when Davenport, a Black male, found himself in a fatal confrontation in the front yard of a relative's home in the 3000 block of Ewingwood Drive.
According to witnesses, four to five young Black men, all dressed in black and armed with guns, confronted Davenport.
As he tried to flee towards the safety of the house, multiple shots were fired in his direction. Struck by the gunfire, Davenport managed to make his way inside the residence, where he collapsed in the living room and succumbed to his injuries.
In the immediate aftermath, police began their investigation, piecing together the events of that night. However, despite the witness accounts of the number of assailants and their general description, no arrests have been made in the case. The shooting of Germaine Davenport remains an unsolved homicide, and his case is now considered a cold case by the Nashville Police Department. Authorities continue to ask for anyone with information regarding the murder to come forward as they seek to bring closure to Davenport's family.
