On a cold January night in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 20-year-old Jeffery Montez Short was tragically cut short. On Sunday, January 29, 2012, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at the Buena Vista Manor Apartments located at 2400 Buena Vista Pike. Upon arrival, they discovered Jeffery, a young father of two, lying on the ground next to his silver Nissan, the vehicle's engine still running. He had been shot multiple times.
Emergency services rushed Jeffery to the hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. Investigators believe that Jeffery had gone to the apartment complex to visit someone when an unknown individual approached his car, opened fire, and then fled the scene. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and his killer has never been identified. Detectives have expressed their belief that there were witnesses to the crime at the apartment complex that night, but for reasons unknown, they have been hesitant to come forward with information.
In the years that have followed, Jeffery's case has grown cold, leaving his family, including his mother, Gloria Cox, without answers or a sense of justice for his untimely death.
