In the early morning hours of April 8, 2012, a burst of violence cut short the life of 23-year-old Chico Carver, an African-American male from Memphis, Tennessee. The fatal encounter unfolded in the parking lot of the Pure Passion Nightclub, a popular strip club located in the city's Whitehaven area. It was there that an unknown assailant fired multiple shots, striking Carver.
