In the early evening of Thursday, November 21, 2013, the sound of gunshots shattered the peace at 4509 Charing Cross in Memphis, Tennessee. When police officers arrived at the scene around 5:45 p.m., they found a young Black or African American man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was 19-year-old Darrin Walls, a male who was quickly transported to the Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Darrin Walls succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The initial investigation by homicide detectives revealed that Walls had been shot multiple times. Investigators began the arduous process of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting, following several leads in the immediate aftermath.
However, the case grew cold as the initial leads did not result in any arrests. To date, the murder of Darrin Walls remains unsolved, and no suspects have been publicly identified or taken into custody. Law enforcement officials have issued pleas to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. A reward has been offered by CrimeStoppers for any tip that results in the charging of the individual or individuals responsible for his death.
