Neighbors' calls to 911 reported screams coming from the residence, a distress signal that prompted a police visit and a grim discovery.
Upon their arrival, officers found Green in an upstairs bedroom, the victim of a
brutal stabbing. She had sustained multiple stab wounds, including a fatal one to her neck, and her throat had been slit. The scene was described by police as the result of a 'very vicious murder.' She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8:00 a.m.
The immediate focus of the investigation turned to her long-term boyfriend, 28-year-old Gerrell Hall. Witnesses reported that Hall fled the scene with the couple's three young children, who were ages six, eight, and ten at the time. He dropped them off unharmed at his mother's house before disappearing. It was Hall's own mother who made the call to the authorities, implicating her son in the crime.
