On February 3, 2009, Paul Palmer, a 31-year-old resident of Pittsburgh's North Side, was fatally shot by a Pittsburgh police officer during a confrontation at his residence on Maple Avenue. The incident began when police were called to the boarding house in the Perry South neighborhood after reports of a disturbance.
