Diontre Dean, a 17-year-old from Pittsburgh, was shot and killed on July 19, 2010, in the Homewood North neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Dean was discovered by police in response to reports of gunfire in the area. His body was found with multiple gunshot wounds, and emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. His death was one of several incidents of violence that plagued the Homewood neighborhood, which has struggled with issues of gang activity and street violence.
