In the winter of 2011, the life of 18-year-old Christopher Foster was tragically cut short in a violent act that left his family and friends searching for answers. On the evening of January 19th, the young man from the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia was found dead on a street in Germantown, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest.
At the time of his death, he was a student at Roxborough High School, remembered by those who knew him as a vibrant and happy person with a passion for music, particularly the keyboard he had recently received for Christmas.
According to reports from the time, Christopher had left his home around 8:00 p.m. with a close friend, intending to go to a local sandwich shop. His friend later recounted a terrifying turn of events, stating that a car carrying an assailant with a shotgun pulled up beside them. The two teenagers fled in opposite directions. Tragically, only sixteen minutes after leaving his house, Christopher's body was discovered on Woodlawn Street near Morris Street. The location of the actual shooting remained a mystery to investigators in the initial days of the investigation.
In the immediate aftermath of the homicide, the Philadelphia police had no suspects and no clear motive for the killing. Christopher's mother, grieving the loss of her son whom she described as an 'old soul,' could not fathom why anyone would want to harm him.
