Maurice Acey, a 39-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, was shot on the night of Saturday, April 30, 2011, shortly before 11:00 p.m., in South Philadelphia. He was found lying on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of South 22nd Street after being struck by gunfire multiple times, and he later died at the hospital. Online case information lists May 1, 2011, as the date he was found, placing his death in the late-night aftermath of the shooting.
