On June 13, 2012, Odell Brown, a 19-year-old from East Liberty, Pittsburgh, was fatally shot in the chest during a standoff that lasted roughly 90 minutes. The incident unfolded when Brown, visibly distraught, was seen walking down North Euclid Street while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. Authorities were alerted, and the area was soon surrounded by police and SWAT officers.
