In the late hours of a Saturday night in Philadelphia, a family argument on a front porch in the Hunting Park neighborhood escalated to a fatal conclusion. On the evening of April 4, 2026, police responded to a call about a person with a weapon on the 600 block of West Wingohocking Street. Upon their arrival at approximately 11:34 p.m., they discovered 61-year-old Kevin Jenkins lying on the porch with multiple stab wounds to his neck.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the
scene and transported Jenkins to Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 12:11 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Investigators at the scene determined that the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute that had occurred just hours before Easter.
The suspect in the fatal stabbing was identified as the victim's son, 28-year-old Devin Jenkins. He was apprehended at the residence without incident. Following the altercation, Devin Jenkins sustained a minor laceration to his finger and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being processed by the police. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, was recovered by investigators from the front porch of the home.
Devin Jenkins has since been charged with the murder of his father, as well as possessing an instrument of a crime and other related offenses. He was taken into custody at the scene and is currently being held. The Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation between the father and son.
