James Lathem, age 39, was found dead on January 3, 2013, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after being reported missing. Lathem's body was discovered in a burning van by Philadelphia firefighters who responded to the scene. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of North 17th Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found the van engulfed in flames, and after extinguishing the fire, they discovered Lathem inside, bound and suffering from stab wounds.
