Chavez Lane, a 26-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on August 1, 2016, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 2:28 a.m., when Philadelphia Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 2100 block of West Montgomery Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Chavez lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound to his side. Medical personnel arrived shortly thereafter but pronounced Chavez deceased at the scene.
