On the warm evening of June 3, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace on the 1600 block of Mohican Street in Philadelphia. Twenty-four-year-old Terylon Bridges, a Black male, was seated inside a black Chevy Impala when the tranquility of the night was irrevocably broken. It was approximately 10:24 p.m. when an unidentified assailant approached the vehicle and unleashed a hail of bullets.
Philadelphia Police officers arrived at the scene to find a scene of chaos and violence.
Terylon Bridges was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, but despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries. Another man, who was 23 years old at the time, was also inside the car and was critically wounded in the attack. He was transported to a nearby hospital by a private vehicle.
Investigators determined that the shooter was a tall male who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and pants. After firing into the Impala, he fled the scene, disappearing towards Lowber Street. Despite a description of the suspect, no arrests have been made in the case, and the murder of Terylon Bridges remains unsolved. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the person responsible for this senseless act of violence. Terylon Bridges, a resident of the 1800 block of East Tulpehocken Street, became another life lost to the persistent issue of gun violence in the city.
