Carl Joseph Burgess, 35, was shot and killed on May 30, 2013, in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia. On that day, Carl had visited his grandmother’s house after work with his daughter. As he was returning home, he noticed a disturbance down the street and went to see what was happening. He was shot in the lower back, with the bullet hitting a main artery, causing him to bleed out.
