In the summer of 2014, a Sunday afternoon in the West Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia was shattered by violence that claimed the life of 21-year-old Trashawn Anderson. On June 22nd, police responded to a call shortly before 4:45 p.m. and discovered Anderson in an alleyway on the 1900 block of 69th Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency services transported Anderson, who lived nearby on the 1800 block of 73rd Avenue, to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Despite the e ...
