On March 28, 2015, Jose Rivera, a 48-year-old resident of North 5th Street in Philadelphia, was fatally shot during a robbery. At around 5:45 p.m., Philadelphia Police responded to a call about a robbery in progress at a residence on the 700 block of West Russell Street. Upon arrival, they found Rivera on the first floor, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died that evening.
