In the early morning hours of New Year's Eve in 2015, the life of a young Black man, Denzel Collins, was tragically cut short in Philadelphia. The 21-year-old was found by police on the 2500 block of West Clearfield Street after they responded to a call just after 12:20 a.m. in the 3100 block of North 25th Street. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders rushed Collins to Temple University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe. He was pronounced dead at 12:40 a.m., becoming another victim of the gun violence that plagued the city. Collins resided on the 3000 block of North Stillman Street, not far from where his life was taken.
Despite the efforts of the Philadelphia Police Department, the case of Denzel Collins's murder remains unsolved. To this day, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case and bring a measure of peace to his family.
