On a Wednesday evening in West Philadelphia, specifically December 30, 2015, the life of 17-year-old Adidas Goode was irrevocably altered. Responding to a report of a shooting around 8 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers discovered Goode on the 5900 block of Manning Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the forehead. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and admitted in critical condition.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Adidas Goode, a Black male who resided on the
5700 block of Windsor Avenue, remained on life support for two days. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the morning of Friday, January 1, 2016. Because his death occurred on the first day of the new year, his case was recorded as the first homicide of 2016 in Philadelphia.
The investigation into the shooting of Adidas Goode has remained open. As of early 2016, no arrests had been made in connection with his death, and the police had not determined a motive for the shooting. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public regarding this unsolved murder.
