On the evening of February 23, 2016, Jason Smith, a 32-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At approximately 8:24 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 2900 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Jason Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that night.
