A mother and her young daughter are shot and killed inside their home
In the quiet city of Salem, Oregon, a deeply unsettling event shattered the community's sense of peace. On March 7, 1983, nine-year-old Caucasian female Erika Payne and her 32-year-old mother, Laurel Wilson, were found deceased in their South Salem home. The grim discovery was made in Wilson's bedroom, where both mother and daughter lay on a blood-soaked bed, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds from a handgun.
