On March 25, 1999, the body of 32-year-old Sven Rodriguez Gomez was found in his apartment on NW Davis Street in Portland, Oregon. The apartment manager had alerted police after noticing a foul odor emanating from Gomez’s apartment. Upon entering, officers found Gomez's partially decomposed body, and an autopsy later determined that he had died of asphyxiation.
