In the early morning hours of August 26, 1996, a sense of unease settled over a residence on North Kerby Avenue in Portland, Oregon. At approximately 1:55 a.m., the sound of a gunshot shattered the quiet of the neighborhood, prompting a call to the Portland Police Department. Officers arrived at 4404 N Kerby Avenue to find a resident who directed them inside, where a grim discovery awaited.
