On May 6, 2009, Lisa Bollaert, a 37-year-old woman from New York, was found dead in front of a house at 7923 South Elwood Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lisa had recently arrived in Tulsa after hitchhiking from New York in late April. She had been staying at local shelters in Tulsa and Sand Springs, seeking help for her mental health and trying to re-enlist in the military.
