On an autumn evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the life of 41-year-old Carol Susan Hurtubise was tragically cut short. On October 17, 1994, two young men approached her home at 506 E. 59th Place North. Her 18-year-old son answered the door and was confronted by the two individuals who demanded money. Hearing the commotion, Carol, a mother of seven and a school bus driver for Tulsa Public Schools, went to the front door to see what was happening.
