On February 13, 1998, John Edward Campbell, aged 40, was found dead in Springfield, Ohio. His body was discovered partially submerged in Mad River near the Ohio Edison power plant, located at 2341 West National Road. Campbell had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and the case remains unsolved. Law enforcement conducted an investigation, but no significant leads have been made public since the incident.
