On January 15, 2005, Thax Winston, a 65-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, was found dead in his apartment on East 4th Avenue. Winston had been shot in the head, and his death was ruled a homicide. The crime scene, which indicated a likely targeted attack, led investigators to consider that the shooting could have been an execution-style killing.
