On June 17, 2007, Alu Jeter, a 28-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was tragically killed during a home invasion and robbery at his apartment on South Seymour Avenue. Jeter was known in the local community as a rap music producer and was also reportedly involved in drug activities. On that day, two girls, Brittany Boggan and her friend, entered Jeter's apartment under the pretense of hanging out, while four other individuals, including Jeremy Dudley, waited for a signal to enter and rob him.
The plan involved Boggan distracting Jeter while unlocking the door for her accomplices. After gaining access, the intruders, led by Dudley and assisted by others including Aaron Manns and Javon "Von" Redman, attempted to rob Jeter at gunpoint. Jeter was forced to reveal where he kept his money and drugs, which were hidden in his kitchen. During the ensuing struggle, Jeter was shot in the chest by Redman after an altercation. His body was later found on the back porch of the residence. An autopsy confirmed that he died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The case led to multiple arrests and trials. Javon Redman was found guilty of murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and kidnapping, resulting in a 41-year prison sentence. The other accomplices, including Manns and Dudley, also faced criminal charges and provided testimony implicating Redman as the shooter. This case highlights a violent robbery plan that ended tragically, and it underscores the dangers of such activities in vulnerable communities.
