On April 21, 2012, Guy Cason, a 39-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was shot and killed in his home on the city's Far East Side. The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Bairsford Drive at around 4:21 p.m. According to investigators, a man knocked on Cason's door, asked for him by name, and then brought up an old dispute before shooting him multiple times in the torso. Cason collapsed just inside his home, where he lived with his parents, who were present at the time of the shooting.
Neighbors reported hearing three gunshots, initially mistaking the sounds for a car backfiring.
Cason had a criminal history, and detectives were exploring whether his past played a role in the attack. No arrests were made immediately following the incident, and police sought the public’s help for information to solve the case.
