On February 6, 2017, Martell Stewart, a 25-year-old man, was fatally shot in Columbus, Ohio. At approximately 9:47 a.m., police officers and paramedics were dispatched to 787 Canonby Place following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Martell Stewart lying in the parking lot between two parked vehicles, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Mount Carmel West Hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:27 a.m.
The shooting took place near the 700 block of Canonby Place, and no suspects were immediately identified. It is believed that Stewart may have been targeted, but the investigation remains ongoing without significant leads. The Columbus Police Department, along with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, continues to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to solving the case and bringing justice for Martell and his family.
