Rodney Curiel, age 34, was found dead on January 11, 2010, in his room at the Mission Hotel, located on South Van Ness Avenue in the Mission District of San Francisco. Curiel's body was discovered by the hotel manager during a routine pest control inspection around 10 a.m. The San Francisco Police Department classified his death as a homicide after completing an autopsy, which indicated that he had died of possible strangulation.
