On Wednesday, December 7, 2005, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 14850 block of Burbank Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley community of Sherman Oaks. There, authorities discovered 49-year-old Mohammed Delwar Hossain Chowdhury unresponsive. Medical assistance was unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner examined his remains and officially classified his death as a homicide, setting in motion an inquiry into the violent circumstances that ended his life.

The incident occurred along a bustling stretch of Burbank Boulevard situated just west of Van Nuys Boulevard. This busy east-west corridor in Sherman Oaks is characterized by a blend of dense apartment communities, low-rise commercial plazas, service stations, and quiet residential streets branching outward into tree-lined neighborhoods. On typical weekdays, the area sees constant traffic as local commuters travel through the heart of the southern San Fernando Valley. Yet against the backdrop of normal suburban activity, Chowdhury's death abruptly transformed the block into a crime scene cordoned off by yellow tape.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division assumed investigative jurisdiction over the homicide case. Investigators processed the Burbank Boulevard location for forensic clues, canvassed the surrounding businesses and residences, and sought potential witnesses who might have seen or heard disturbances leading up to the tragedy. Despite their efforts, authorities did not publicly disclose the specific manner or mechanism of how he was killed, leaving the official coroner categorization recorded simply as other, without further descriptive details released to the media or general public.

The investigation took place during an intense era of violent crime in the City of Los Angeles. In 2005, the city recorded nearly five hundred homicides, keeping detective divisions across the San Fernando Valley heavily taxed with heavy caseloads. While violent incidents were more frequently reported in other neighboring pockets of the city, homicides within the suburban, affluent enclave of Sherman Oaks remained comparatively uncommon. Nevertheless, the lack of immediate leads and the absence of witnesses left investigators with few actionable avenues to pursue in the initial days following the discovery.

Decades have elapsed since that December morning, and Chowdhury's homicide remains completely unsolved. No suspects have been identified or publicly named by the Los Angeles Police Department, and no arrests have ever been announced in connection with the crime. The motive behind the killing is entirely unknown, and it remains unclear whether the encounter was targeted, dispute-driven, or incidental. With critical questions still unanswered, investigators continue to rely on the possibility that someone holding crucial information about the events on Burbank Boulevard will ultimately decide to break their silence.
