On April 17, 2010, Stephen Powell, a 20-year-old, was tragically shot during the Pink Saturday festivities in San Francisco's Castro district. Pink Saturday is a large street celebration that occurs annually the evening before the San Francisco Pride Parade. During the event, Powell was shot multiple times, resulting in his death, and two bystanders were also injured in the incident.
