In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 30, 2026, the life of a well-known West Odessa businessman, Aaron Jordan, 42, was tragically cut short. Deputies from the Ector County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Jordan's residence in the 13000 block of West 42nd Street around 1:45 a.m. following reports of shots fired. Subsequent calls minutes later confirmed that a person had been shot. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Jordan with a gunshot wound to the chest and immediately began administering medical aid until paramedics arrived. Jordan was transported to Medical Center Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred at Jordan's property, known as AJ Ranch, a popular spot in the community for events and a reflection of his love for Western traditions. Witnesses reported that a party had taken place at the ranch that evening. Accounts suggest that an argument broke out when Jordan asked his guests to leave so he could rest. This altercation reportedly escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire between Jordan and another man, identified as Eduardo Sotelo.
