On the warm evening of July 26, 2026, in Yuba City, California, the life of 21-year-old Fernando Cortez was tragically cut short. A burst of gunfire outside a 7-Eleven on Market Street shortly before 11 p.m. left Cortez and another young man, 18-year-old Moses Mendoza, dead.
