Jamiah Sentell Carson, a 33-year-old man from Anderson, South Carolina, died after he was shot during what authorities described as a domestic-related altercation on Monday, June 22, 2026.
The violence unfolded at a residence in the Double Oak Court apartment area near Highway 76 and Cornelia Road. Anderson County emergency dispatchers received a report shortly before 3:15 p.m. that someone had been shot.
Anderson police officers and other emergency personnel arrived and found Carson suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
First responders provided medical treatment at the scene before transporting Carson to the emergency department at AnMed. Despite efforts to save him, he died shortly after arriving at the hospital. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore later identified Carson and determined that he died from the gunshot wound. His death was classified as a homicide.
Investigators said the preliminary evidence indicated that Carson had been involved in a domestic altercation at the home before the confrontation escalated and shots were fired. Authorities did not publicly describe the relationship between Carson and the other person involved or disclose what caused the dispute to become violent.
Police took one individual into custody for questioning in connection with the incident. The person was interviewed at the Anderson Police Department, but authorities did not publicly identify that individual as a suspect or announce an arrest or criminal charges. Being held for questioning did not necessarily mean that the person had been formally accused of causing Carson’s death.
The Anderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at the apartment while forensic personnel collected evidence in coordination with the Anderson County Coroner’s Office. Investigators also interviewed witnesses as they worked to establish the sequence of events, determine who fired the fatal shot and decide whether the evidence supported criminal charges.
