DeTonio Jamarvis Ware, a 31-year-old Black male from Anderson, South Carolina, was known to his friends and family by the nickname "Pup." Born on April 16, 1987, to parents Bridgette Freeman and Marvin Blassingame, he spent his life in the Anderson area, where he was a father to three sons: Kylik, DeShun, and LaChance. DeTonio was remembered by loved ones for his generous spirit, often described as the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
He had a passion for fashion and shoes and was engaged to be married to his fiancé, Pamela Rucker, at the time of his death.
On May 22, 2018, tragedy struck when DeTonio was critically injured in a shooting incident in Anderson County. Following the attack, he was rushed to AnMed Health Medical Center for emergency treatment. He fought for his life for several days in the hospital, but his injuries proved too severe to overcome. On Saturday, May 26, 2018, DeTonio Jamarvis Ware passed away surrounded by his family, just days after the violent encounter.
Law enforcement authorities in Anderson County investigated the shooting, which transitioned into a homicide case following the victim's death. Reports from the time indicated that charges against a suspect, who had been taken into custody following the initial shooting, were upgraded to murder after the coroner confirmed DeTonio’s passing. He was laid to rest on June 1, 2018, at Westview Cemetery following a service at Asbury Memorial Baptist Church.
