Reina Yesenia Cedeño Oramas, a 53-year-old Ecuadorian-born woman, was found dead inside her home at 709 Hobson Road in Jasper, Georgia, on June 30, 2026. At approximately 11:45 a.m., a caller contacted the Pickens County Sheriff's Office after discovering her body. Deputies responded to the residence and requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as the circumstances surrounding her death came under scrutiny.
Cedeño's body was transported to the GBI Medical
Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Preliminary findings determined that she had died from a gunshot wound. The discovery shifted the case into a homicide investigation, and authorities began examining another residence located next door at 707 Hobson Road.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for that property, which was occupied by 48-year-old Mark Little. At approximately 7:45 p.m. on July 2, members of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office SWAT team joined GBI agents and Pickens County deputies at the residence. Officers established a perimeter and spent about two hours attempting to contact and negotiate with Little.
Before entering the house, law enforcement officers used video technology to obtain views of the interior. The surveillance appeared to show Little's body inside. SWAT officers then entered the residence and found him suffering from what authorities described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
Authorities investigated Cedeño's killing and Little's death as an apparent murder-suicide. Although Little was regarded as the suspected person connected to her fatal shooting, he died before he could be arrested, formally charged, or questioned about what occurred. Consequently, the case did not result in criminal court proceedings, a trial, or a conviction.
The GBI and Pickens County Sheriff's Office continued working to establish the complete sequence of events and the relationship between the two deaths. Officials said the investigations remained active and ongoing but indicated that they did not believe there was any continuing threat to the public.
