On the morning of May 30, 2026, a violent encounter at the Crown Inn Motel on Bamberg Road in Orangeburg, South Carolina, claimed the life of 43-year-old Jason Johnson. Deputies from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 10 a.m. and discovered Johnson with gunshot wounds. He was transported to MUSC Health Orangeburg, where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the precise cause of death.
