In the early morning hours of June 9, 2026, the quiet of an Ashdown, Arkansas neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When officers from the Ashdown Police Department and the Little River County Sheriff's Office arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Brodie Lane around 6:25 a.m., they discovered the body of 35-year-old Derrick Burgess. He was found near the carport of the home, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene before emergency medical ...
